Beginning in 1966, through an annual Doctoral Consortium, the American Marketing Association and the most prestigious universities across the country have displayed their commitment to doctoral education. This commitment has helped young scholars develop very successful careers. As a part of thei sproud tradition, every year, qualified doctoral-granting institutions nominate their top doctoral students. These promising students learn from, and interact with the top marketing faculty from across the discipline. Along with the invaluable learning, participants forge friendships and working relationships with peers and mentors that last a lifetime. Over their careers, Consortium fellows look back fondly upon the event as an important developmental milestone in their lives, both professionally and personally. The Doctoral Consortium also holds a very special place in the life and culture of the marketing discipline. The Consortium has thus become a bridge between the past and the future. One of the most important landmarks in the journey of the consortium, was the The Madhuri & Jagdish N. Sheth Foundation’s major commitment to the consortium In the mid-1990s. This welcome commitment ensured a bright future for the event.
For Doctoral Fellows and Young Faculty
Why Should You Attend?
The Consortium offers advanced Doctoral students with the opportunity to present their research to, and receive guidance from, scholars in their field. Here, opportunities for informal mentoring and networking abound outside the formal student presentations field. By organizing an annual conference, we bring together leading academics and promising students who can learn from these extraordinary mentors. The consortium also offers nominated students a chance to form and strengthen their peer networks, build bridges with legendary professors and get guidance about the important research agenda of the future.
