Prof. V. KumarV. Kumar (VK) is the Regents Professor, Richard and Susan Lenny Distinguished Chair Professor of Marketing, and executive director of the Center for Excellence in Brand & Customer Management at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. He also is Chang Jiang Scholar at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China; Fellow, Hagler Institute for Advanced Study, Texas A&M University, USA; and the Senior Fellow, Indian School of Business, India. He has been recognized with eighteen lifetime achievement awards in various areas of marketing including marketing strategy, inter-organizational issues, retailing, business-to-business marketing, and marketing research.
He has had the privilege and the honor of being named as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Marketing, the number one ranked academic journal in the field of marketing. He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Forecasting, and the Journal of Retailing and serves on the Editorial Review Board of Marketing Science, the Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Business Research.
VK has published over 200 articles in many scholarly and premier marketing journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, International Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Harvard Business Review, and Sloan Management Review. He has published over 20 books on various marketing topics including Managing Customers for Profit, Profitable Customer Engagement: Concepts, Metrics, and Strategies, Customer Relationship Management, and Marketing Research.
He has won several awards for his research publications in scholarly journals including theDon Lehmann Award (six times), the MSI/Paul H Root Award (three times), the S. Tamer Cavusgil Award (two times), the Robert Buzzell Award, the Davidson Award, the JM/Sheth Foundation Best Paper Award, and the Sheth Foundation Award. His scholarly contributions have been published in the Legends in Marketing series as a 10-volume collection with commentaries from scholars worldwide.
