As a part of the annual Grand Alumni meet underway at the MICA campus at Shela, and as a part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the premier marketing and communications institute, the student-run Alumni Engagement Committee organized an alumni conclave on the afternoon of Saturday.

As the campus buzzed with the excitement of over 200 alumni from across the country filtering in to experience the campus again, students from different batches assembled at the Mani Aiyer auditorium for the conclave. The over two-hour long event featured four MICA alumni delivering speeches reminiscing their time at MICA and their journeys henceforth.

The event began with the address by Mr.Roerich Kaushal of the 2007 Batch, who is currently the Marketing Head at Vodafone, Gujarat, India. He spoke at length about his experiences at different stages of his illustrious career and the key learnings that he took with him at each point. He gave important pointers to the gathering of future managers about the nature and expectations of the industry. “If you do good work, you will be awarded with more work. It only reflects the trust that the organization has on you.” He advised the students assembled to not shy away from getting their hands dirty and warned them to not look for easy ways out in the initial stages of their careers.

Following his informative address, the audience was treated to a fun and exciting speech by Mr. Spandan Mishra from the 2008 Batch. Spandan Mishra is a Planner by day, Thespian by evening & a Screen-Writer by night. Started as a Partner, Strategic Planning, Spandan, currently is the Head-Strategic Planning at Rediffusion Y&R and is based out of Mumbai. His areas of specialization are Consumer Research and Insights, Brand Strategy, Film Studies, and Popular Culture. He spoke about his many memorable experiences during his life as a MICA student and how his experiences helped shape his career.

Mr. SanketAvlani of the 2010 Batch of CCC, an Art Director and Designer who has worked in the advertising and design industry for the last 7 years in Mumbai and London spoke about his journey after graduating from MICA. He has worked on projects for Honda Europe, MTS, Cafe Coffee Day, Cinthol, KyooriusDesignyatra and Cafe Cuba. He is currently the Curator at Taxi Fabric project, his startup which started off as a simple blog and today, it is a full- fledged platform for designers in Mumbai to showcase their work on a taxi seat cover.The Taxi Fabric project has also been supported by TEDxGateway.

The last speaker of the day was NitinShandilya of the 2012 Batch, who is currently heading the Digital Marketing for Amul. His areas of specialization are- International Business, Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Business Development, Distribution, Competitive Strategy, Market Intelligence, Go-To-Market Strategy, Commercial Contracts.

The session ended with a thank you note by Professor Rasananda Panda and felicitation by the Director Nagesh Rao.
