What are the eligibility criteria for applying to PGDM-C?

Admission to the PGDM-C programme requires a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 system) or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Candidates appearing for final examinations towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply.

Candidates who demonstrate aptitude for expressing, assessing and /or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results, tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted.

Candidates should appear for CAT 2017 or XAT 2018 or GMAT 2016 (or later) for MICA to consider their application.

How do you prepare for the MICAT & GE-PI?

The MICAT has been designed as a comprehensive test to assess analytical and verbal ability, logical reasoning, convergent & divergent thinking, written communication skills, creative potential and general awareness about contemporary social and industry related issues including areas covering media, marketing, advertising and business.

We expect our prospective candidates to be well-read, innovative and intelligent with an analytical bent of mind. A regular habit of reading newspapers and practice in analytical and creative writing would be useful.

GE and PI - These consist of a series of interactions with the candidates to assess their suitability for the Strategic Marketing and Communication driven industry sectors. This does not require any prior preparation.

What is the mode of test?  

Computer Based Test (CBT)

Can a candidate use his/her own computer and give the test?

No, one has to necessarily go to the Test Venue allotted and appear for the test there.

Can I take the test from any computer?

No. A candidate will have to take the test on a pre-assigned centre allotted in the Admit Card and will not have a choice to choose his or her venue and the assigned computer in the test centre.

When & how many times is MICAT conducted in a year?

Can a candidate appear in both the MICATs?

Yes. A candidate is eligible to appear in both exams but has to fill two separate application forms by paying the registration fees and as per the timelines. Shortlist will be prepared on the basis of MICAT-1and /or 2 or better of the two performances if a candidate has taken both MICAT-1 and MICAT-2.

How is the computer-based format different from the paper-based format?

The format of the test is more or less the same except that a candidate reads the question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer, instead of reading on a paper booklet and using a pencil to darken the ovals on an OMR sheet. The subjective section of the MICAT will have to be typed out as per the instructions. 

What does a Computer Based Test look like?

MICAT trial test shall be available on the website www.mica.ac.in for candidates to get familiarized with the functionality and navigation of the actual Computer Based Test, closer to the examination dates.

What is the pattern for MICAT, GE and PI?

MICAT is Computer Based Test (CBT).

The MICAT has been designed comprehensively to assess analytical and verbal ability, logical reasoning, divergent thinking, written communication skills, creativity potential and general awareness about contemporary social and industry related issues, including areas covering media, marketing, advertising and business. All psychometric questions are compulsory.

A demo on MICAT excluding psychometric section shall be available closer to the examination date

Group Exercise (GE)

A group exercise is a team based evaluation process wherein candidates will be judged on their performance with their allotted group members.  

There will be no screening after the GE.  All those who have appeared for GE will also appear for PI. Personal Interview (PI)

This consists of interactions with the candidates, to assess their suitability for Creative Leadership in Strategic Marketing and Communication driven industry sectors along with other required traits. This does not require any prior preparation.

Is there any weightage given to work experience for admission to PGDM-C?

Everything else being equal, MICA prefers the incumbent candidates to have relevant work experience.

Does MICA award a degree or diploma?

MICA awards a diploma called PGDM-C which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and deemed equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

What is the number of seats in PGDM-C?

The maximum intake for PGDM-C is 180 students.

Apart from academics, what are the other ‘on campus’ activities at MICA?
