Students from premium institute — MICA including Suman Kundu, Sushant Sharma and Vishesh Arora, won the Mallennial Challenge, a B-School competition organized by UnBox Retail- a retail forum summit. Out of the 114 entries across the country, the finalists were from Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIMA), MICA, XLRI Jamshedpur, IIM-Raipur and MISB Bocconi. MICA won the event, whereas MISB and IIM-A stood second and third respectively.
The challenge involved long-term strategy for malls in order to increase footfall and conversions in the younger consumer segment. The jury panel included experts from the retail industry, like Ankit Shukla, Senior Assistant Director, FICCI, Bijou Kurien Board Member, L Capital. COO – Titan, Jayant Kochar: MD, Go Fish Retail Solutions, Former MD Lacoste India, Founder MD – Barista, Mahesh Krishnan and Vineet Gautam , CEO & Country Head, Bestseller India, said a statement from the institute.
One of the students, Sushant Sharma, who was part of the winning team said, “In our first year in MICA, we were taught subjects such as consumer buying behaviour and customer experience and user design which helped us.’’ The students were under the mentorship of Dr Anita Basalingappa.
