The student run Entrepreneurship Development Cell at the city-based premium institute MICA hosted 'Start your own Startup', a launch-pad for students to showcase their project ideas in front of industry professionals and judges, and gain funding for the same. The event aimed to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students, and give them a starting point to kick start their business at an early stage. The mentors also provided feedback to the students to enable enhanced learning. The three participating teams - Team Collabor8, Team Vintage Mumbai, and Team StudyCast - were judged by a panel of judges comprising of the cofounders of Gridle.io, Yash Shah and Anupama Panchal, and Siddharth Deshmukh, Associate Dean of MICA. Shah expressed his pleasure with the level of the competition and said, "One of the greater B plan competitions I have judged. It was good to see clarity of thought in the way they were progressing with their presentation and could genuinely communicate their ideas to us." Talking about the event, Panchal said, "It was great that each team received enough time to communicate their idea. Coming to MICA has been a great experience, the atmosphere here is buzzing with creativity and ideas and it was great to be able to let myself sink in and absorb as much as possible." Team Collabor8, comprising of MICAn students Sumedh Prabhu and Vatsal Sethi, who emerged victorious and received a funding of Rs. 20,000, came up with the idea of creating an ecosystem where people can seek, share and explore "talent based" team building possibilities in a hyper-local environment. Through their business model, people collaborate to meet new people, enlarge their social sphere and network. Team Collabor8 will be provided the opportunity to start their project in MICA with help from the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and the MICA Incubator.
