Early this Wednesday morning, the premises of MICA saw a great buzz as MICA’s student-run community radio station MICAVAANI organized its flagship annual event, ‘Aapno Manch’. The event is designed as a stage set for the students of Shela and Telav to facilitate expression of opinions and talents. Aapno Manch saw a tremendous response, as over 500 people from the villages came together to make the event a success. The event lasted for over 4 hours, filled with fun and celebration as people across schools, from Shela Prathmik Shala to Telav Vidyalaya, took to the stage to display their talents.
Since this year’s theme revolved around Unity in Diversity, a lot of students were engaged in activities which inculcated art forms and culture from all around India like singing, dancing, fashion show and theatrics, each organized by the student team. The event also comprised of a prize distribution ceremony, wherein students with exceptional academic and sports performances were awarded. The winners and participants of the event today were awarded with goodies and certificates from team MICAVAANI, apart from MICAVAANI merchandize.
“The idea of this year’s theme was about giving back to the society and encourage students to be more inclusive and accepting along with learning different art forms. Also, this was a second successful year of the “Telav Teaching Project”, wherein the MICA community teaches the students of standard ninth and tenth, to integrate MICANs and the surrounding community. The love and support received from MICANs is also tremendous,” said RJ Ankit, one of the members of MICAVAANI.
Known for spreading social messages and awareness on critical issues including sanitation, hygiene and education, MICAVAANI enjoys immense popularity and listenership in the villages surrounding MICA, and the team has seen such exhibitions of affection from the crowd several times before.
