MICA-Mudra Institute of Communications Research (MICORE)
The Mudra Institute of Communications Research (MICORE), founded in 2006 by the Mudra Foundation for Communications Research and Education, aims to be the pre-eminent communication research institution in India.
Our research arm intends to fill the void created by the absence of focused and systematic research on communication in India, by insisting on research of the highest academic rigour, bringing global standards of excellence in communication research to India. Our research is in the areas and topics of local, national and international significance. We are committed to providing communication-centred solutions to the development and organisational challenges facing the country, the impetus being to build a strong and just consumer and civil society. Our research arm intends to create a unique identity for itself.
Objectives of MICORE:
to constitute communication as a major research space and study it in all its aspects
to use communication research to demonstrate how communication models can empower communities and increase the effectiveness of industry and social institutions
to forecast changing institutional and individual landscapes and develop a greater understanding of the changing role of communication in new environments
to develop new methodologies, tools, databases, archives and training skills, required to develop and sustain communication research
to support decision-making and public policy through multi-disciplinary research
to develop research-based linkages between academia, industry and society in India and abroad
MICORE will draw on the disciplines of Psychology, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Arts, Design, Languages and Management, to explore the following focus areas, which will gradually increase in number:
