Message from the Associate Director

Arbind Sinha, Associate Director

In the last 16 years of its existence, MICA has maintained its unique position with interdisciplinary courses and a holistic approach in education. MICA has developed its own admission test and has been able to select brilliant students with ideas, creativity, and concern to serve communication driven businesses in the commercial, social and development sectors. The Institute's equity depends on the talent of students it selects, the rigor of course curriculum it develops, the innovative pedagogy it offers, the excellence of faculty with research inclination, and the enabling environment it has created for ideal learning. Students therefore receive the best mentoring possible during their stay with the Institute.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds but get assimilate into the MICA culture within no time. We have been able to attract, retain, and absorb quality faculty from different disciplines who learn very fast the language of communications management. It is a wonderful student-teacher team we've got going here.

The course curriculum is designed and redesigned in consultation with academia and industry based on their futuristic projections. On an annual basis, the faculty team spends considerable time in discussing, restructuring, and validating the curriculum. A good number of experts from the industry and other institutions interact with the students here and help them develop the management skills required to efficiently manage the communications part of systems. Our unique industry internships and rural research projects need special mention here. All students go for industry immersion and dirty their hands to learn the reality of life. However, realising the need to reach out to rural India as well, all our students spend two weeks in a rural setting to study the ethnography of a village, keeping communication at the centre of this field visit. The visit culminates in a 'rural research report' that is evaluated and graded.

We look for a better tomorrow with an enhanced economy and healthier society.
