PlaceCom is the Placement Committee at MICA. It is a student body elected by the students of the PGPCM course. It is represented by students from the first year as well as the second year. It is a committee that facilitates the placement of students by co-coordinating with companies. They are responsible for managing the Summer Internship week as well as the Final Placement week.
The placement committee is one of the most important committees on campus because of the nature of the work that they do. The committee is responsible for the careers of students and hence being part of the placement committee involves immense amount of commitment and learning. It develops analytical and team building skills. One of the most enriching experiences as part of the Placement Committee is managing the Placement Week. The experience gained from those seven days is unmatched. The members have to work under tremendous amounts of pressure and have to think on their feet to take decisions in order to ensure a smooth recruitment process.
- The committee has ensured a year on year 100% placement since its inception.
- The committee has ensured a constant addition of organisations in each specialisation.
- The PlaceCom has always been in tune with the current trends in the industry and ensured that MICANs leverage the same.
- The highest salary packages have gone up to as high as Rs. 32 lacs per annum. Figures like these were unheard of previously.
Every year the committee is selected through a rigorous selection process that consists of multiple rounds. Interested candidates are first required to send in an Expression of Interest (EOI). They then address the batch about their candidature, following which an election process is carried out to understand the preference of the batch. This is then followed up by multiple rounds of interviews to ensure the candidates thinking ability, ethics, priorities and understanding of the placement process and its implications. The Placement Committee consists of 16 individuals. With the increase in batch size, this could go up to ensure smooth functioning of the process.
It has always been the aim of the Placement Committee to create a platform for a healthy interaction between students and the industry. Stakeholder management is our prime motive. The stakeholders for us are students, the faculty and Institute, and the industry. Creating a right fit to ensure a long term relationship for organisations and ensuring that students can build on a career that they would wholeheartedly pursue only ensures that the MICA brand name is strengthened.
Our aim is to make MICA the first stop for all the communication and marketing requirements of every industry. We are working towards this as we have a fair representation from every industry as our placement partners and the growth of MICANs in these organizations only reassures us about our endeavour.
