MICAMINDS

What is MICAMINDS?

MICAMINDS seeks to provide students with hands-on learning experiences through live projects. It also seeks to facilitate knowledge generation, assimilation and dissemination in various forms like projects, case studies, lectures, etc.

How old is the committee? How many members make the committee?

MICAMINDS started in 2002. It is a faculty-guided committee consisting of 9 members.

What are its responsibilities?

  • MICAMINDS will attempt to bring suitable projects that will supplement classroom learning for students
  • MICAMINDS will act as a knowledge centre by archiving parts of the project reports submitted to the clients
  • MICAMINDS will be content aggregator, accumulating academic and research content generated by the student body

What have been its significant achievements?

  • Over 60 projects since inception (2002)
  • Project payment more that Rs. 200,000 in 2009-2010 (300% improvement from previous year)
  • Previous clients include industry majors like Barista, Claris, Hero Honda, Yahoo, Leo Burnett, etc.

What are the perks of being in the committee?

The committee provides its members with a holistic learning experience. Every member learns how to pitch, compile briefs, cost projects, maintain client relations, and evaluate projects.

How is the committee formed?

In the selection process we currently have three stages of execution.

In the first stage, the interested students are asked to present a case study or complete a research oriented task. After this step, a certain number are shortlisted for stage 2, where they are interviewed by the senior MICAMINDS team. After this, another round of elimination takes place and the final shortlisted candidates are called in for a final interview with the faculty head and the selection panel.

Depending on this, the new committee is selected. But, please note that the senior committee may choose to edit the selection process if they see fit.

The committee provides hands-on experience in running a consultancy firm.

What are the committee's Future plans?

  • Knowledge Generation Center (KGC)
  • Organising workshops/ knowledge sharing sessions on a periodic basis
  • Acting as a content aggregator for all knowledge created internally at MICA
  • Initiating international collaborations
