MICA Communications Review [MCR]

What is MCR?

MCR is a student driven Research Publication initiative. It is a biannual journal, edited, designed and managed completely by MICA students. It deals with topics ranging across MICA specific verticals like marketing, media, branding, advertising, communications, etc. It contains research papers written by MICA students with usually one research paper by students from other B-schools. It is basically a repository of MICA knowledge and a platform for presenting MICA to corporates and peer institutions. MCR also focuses on initiating the student body into research writing culture.

How old is the committee? How many members make the committee?

MCR is into its 5th year. It is a 5-6 member team.

Our mission: “Foster enquiry into the composite fields of brands, marketing and media with a communications oriented perspective, and to encourage questions, thoughts and discussions about the field and industry.”

What are the responsibilities?

The primary responsibility of MCR is to bring out the journals. This year we started the MCR e-newsletter to increase participation from the students in research writing culture.

What have been the significant achievements?

  • Increased participation from the students towards contribution to the journal
  • Release of the MCR e-newsletter

What are the perks of being in the committee?

  • Exposure to all ongoing debates concerning the Marketing & Communications Community
  • Out of class learning of concepts applied in real industry scenario
  • Bullet points on CV as the member of the Editorial Board of a renowned journal

How is the committee formed?

The committee is introduced to the new batch during the committee presentations. After which an expression of interest is taken from the students for the different verticals within the committee;

  • Content Planning and Editing [CPE]
  • Design and Layout [ DL ]
  • Logistics and Admin [ LA ]
  • PR

The interested students are called for an interview.  A task is usually given depending on the verticals as a prerequisite to the interview. For the Design and Layout vertical, the student should have prior working knowledge of editing and design software.
