Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC)

MICA-EDC is an initiative of MICA, set up with the support of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, with the purpose of fostering entrepreneurship in communications-driven initiatives as well as promoting corporate entrepreneurship in the communications industry.

MICA-EDC is a centre of excellence at MICA which conducts postgraduate programmes in the area of communications management, offers business support services including skill assessment, market research, and profiling studies and publications specific to entrepreneurship in the communications sector. MICA-EDC has set up a first-of-its-kind Comcubator, an Incubation centre specifically for the communications sector to commercialise and nurture ideas and innovations.

MICA-EDC profiles and updates business opportunities, conducts studies for designing curriculum for the postgraduate courses in communications management and entrepreneurship, documents success stories and carries out research on the problems and issues in the areas of communications, entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation. It also organises national seminars and conferences. MICA-EDC is fully committed to the collection, publication and dissemination of research and information on communications management and entrepreneurship.

Mission:

The Entrepreneurship Development Centre strives to:

  • Nurture entrepreneurship among people who have a passion for communications through educational programmes, knowledge generation and mentoring;
  • Build capacity of institutions to strengthen propensity among students to seek entrepreneurial careers in communication driven initiatives;
  • Make entrepreneurially-driven communication initiatives recognised as vital for supporting the sustainability of indigenous enterprises.
