MICA has been actively involved in social communications since its inception. In 2002, it took a natural step forward to serve the field of developmental communications and established the Centre for Social and Developmental Communications. The Centre is headed by Prof. Arbind Sinha, an experienced veteran in the field of development communications. CSDC undertakes research projects and training programmes for bilateral, multilateral and government agencies in the areas of development communication, health communication, watershed management, climate change and disaster communication, water and sanitation communication and advocacy and capacity building.
It conducts high quality research that involves participation from marginalised communities and deprived social groups. It has conducted health communication training programmes for different state governments to impart specific skills relevant to emerging challenges of social and healthcare communication. CSDC has also been consultant to international organisations such as DANIDA, European Union, UNICEF, USAID, World Bank, COUNTERPART International, OECD, etc.
